Bondo Body Filler Ok?

So I made Orgonite(tbs) for the first time today but I accidentally picked up Bondo Body Filler for the resin but made them anyways. Will these be just as effective tbs?

Hi Joe,

sounds like a mastex or plaster mixed with styrene, do you buy from a car part shop or hardware store?

Resin factory, or buttons factory are the deal, buy 5 times more resin for your bucks. [Image Can Not Be Found];

Its a polyester resin but I read that it is non-shrinking. Its kind of white in color and was difficult to work with. Got it from Home Depot.

I have done a mistake once when I bought a polyester mastex, which is expensive, I could not see inside the tin and I assumed it was the same order of things since it was used with a catalyzer.
Is the Bando a paste with a resin ingredient?
A gifter from this area has found a button factory that supply clear resin, with very little smell, and it cures with just 1% catalyzer. The price is under 3 Euros. Watch out!

It might as well be a paste its so thick and sets quickly. [Image Can Not Be Found] [Image Can Not Be Found] As it turned out none of the 12 experimental tbs had a solid body of resin at the bottom so all the metal from scrubbers are hanging/falling out the bottom. I think I’m just going to tear out the Quartz, get the correct resin, and try this again!!

Bondo, IIRC, is simply talc filled polyester resin so it makes a putty which is also sandable.

Though it’d be painful mixing in the metal, I suspect it’d probably work though not having tried it, I can’t speak from experience.

I do know a few gifters who have used that FRP polyester resin (fiberglass filled stuff) and claim it works great and at least where they live, its less expensive than the straight resin.

I got the regular resin and now I have some tbs I’m happy about. You’re right, reg resin is almost double the price.

That stuff is awfully hard to work with. I don’t know if the large quantity of fiber material in the mix is a factor. Most people can get 5 gallon pails of resin with some hunting. Most large cities have retail suppliers of resin and it costs less than half as much as buying a gallon at a time from hardware and marine stores.

I’m sure the stuff you’re using works for flipping death towers, though.

By the way, some gal in Oz told me that she and her family spent the time to cut up some aluminum cans to make the metal component for orgonite and I forgot to mention, to her, that people have successfully gotten the metal in quantity by putting aluminum foiil through a document shredder [Image Can Not Be Found] and just leave it in the mold as loose as possible–don’t mash it down.

Yep, I’m not skilled enough to use body filler and I don’t really like it anyways. One source seems to think that it isn’t effective because it is non-shrinking vs fiberglass resin which is thus inducing a piezo effect upon the quartz. I don’t know how true that is. I’ll have to check into large quantities of resin Don, I’m close to Portland, OR anyways.

I’m liking the metal scrubbers from dollar tree now that I got the hang of cutting them. It’s funny how many government vehicles you see when your gifting. I hit IMO a mother lode location of towers and antennas on top of a hill populated by the wealthy nearby. There were 5 towers and large antennas. One of the towers looked very loaded.
