In the 1st Quarter of 2023, Tesla sold 423,000 vehicles.
From the 4th Quarter of 2023 to the 1st Quarter of 2025, Tesla sales decreased by 30.6%, or by 148,319 vehicles, from 485,000 vehicles to 336,681 vehicles.
From the 4th Quarter of 2023 to the 1st Quarter of 2024, Tesla sales decreased by 20.3%, or by 98,319 vehicles, from 485,000 vehicles to 386,681 vehicles
In the 4th Quarter of 2023, Tesla sold 485,000 vehicles.
In the 1st Quarter of 2024, Tesla sold 386,681 vehicles.
In the 1st Quarter of 2024, Tesla sales decreased by 8.9%, year-over-year, or by 36,319 vehicles, from 423,000 to 386,681.
In the 1st Quarter of 2024, international Electric Vehicle sales decreased by 20%, year-over-year.
As you can see, it is not just Tesla’s sales which are decreasing, but rather those of electric vehicles as a whole.
In the 4th Quarter of 2024, Tesla sold 496,000 vehicles.
In the 1st Quarter of 2025, Volvo Cars sales of electrified models including fully electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles decreased by 9%, year-over-year.
As you can see, it is not just Tesla’s sales which are decreasing, but rather those of electric vehicles as a whole.
In the 1st Quarter of 2025, Tesla sales decreased by 13%, year-over-year, or by 50,000 vehicles, from 423,000 vehicles to 336,681 vehicles. It was the largest decrease in deliveries in its history.
CNN’s Chris Isidore said it was “because “backlash against CEO Elon Musk and growing competition took a large bite out of demand for its EVs”.
When, in fact, in the 1st Quarter of 2025, the 9% decrease in Volvo Cars sales of electrified models, including fully electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles was 50% greater than the 6% decrease in Volvo Cars sales as a whole.
As you can see, it is not just Tesla’s sales which are decreasing, as falsely claimed by Chris, but rather those of electric vehicles as a whole.

Cox Automotive and the New York Times issuing identical disinformation on consecutive days is an example of what is known as horizontal propaganda, or integration propaganda.
