Essay: Explain how a four-day production shutdown could or would lead to a 38% decrease in electric car sales

“Day and night the telescreens bruised your ears with statistics proving that people today had more food, more clothes, better houses, better recreations—that they lived longer, worked shorter hours, were bigger, healthier, stronger, happier, more intelligent, better educated, than the people of fifty years ago.”

From “1984”, by George Orwell, 1949

THE DATA, AND THE BULLSHIT PLAUSIBLE-DENIABILITY EXCUSES REFUTING IT

From 2020 to 2022, if current projections hold true, U.S. Television sales will decrease by 18%, from 49.4 million units to 40.4 million units.

In 2021, international smart watch sales decreased by 21%.

in 2021, Television sales in the U.S. decreased by 5.8%, from 49.4 million units to 46.6 million units.

hdguru.com’s Greg Tarr attributed it to “COVID lockdown”.

Wait, what? Doesn’t being forcibly locked in hour house due to the barely-covert international release of a Chinese bat virus with four amino acids added for improved transmissibility to humans drive your desire to order a TV from Amazon and have it delivered to you up, not down?

It does. 'COVID lockdown" is a bullshit plausible-deniability excuse, put forward to keep your eyes off the wider trend of collapsing technology consumption that I’m documenting here.

In the 1st Quarter of 2022, Volkwagen’s electric car sales decreased by 38%.

Bezinga.com’s Rachit Vats attributed the gigantic decrease to “wiring harnessing shortages” and “Volkswagen had to halt production in February for four days due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

From March 2022 to April 2022, Tesla sales in China decreased by 98%.

From March 2022 to April 2022, Tesla production in China decreased by 81%, from 55,462 to 10,757.

CNN’s Laura He attributed the titanic decreases to “lockdowns”.

“The plunge comes as tens of millions of people in at least 31 cities have been under lockdown for weeks, causing massive supply chain disruptions and hitting consumer spending in the world’s second largest economy.”

Well, if it’s true that social engineering surrounding the barely-covert international release of a Chinese bat virus with four amino acids added for improved transmissibility to human caused a sudden, hyper-exponential decrease in Tesla sales in China, then why didn’t Tesla didn’t export any Shanghai-made vehicles in April, compared with 60 exported in March? Given that all of those other lockdown-free countries whose consumer spending hasn’t been hit are still hungry for Tesla’s electric cars, right?

It’s not true. “Lockdowns” is a bullshit plausible-deniability excuse, put forward at the local level to keep your eye off the wider trend of hyper-exponentially-decreasing electric car sales that I’m documenting here.

In April 2022, Electric car sales by the manufacturer NIO decreased by 28%, year-over-year.

Author insideevs.com’s Mark Kane attributed the titanic decrease to “supply chain volatilities and other constraints”.

In 2022, U.S. Television sales are projected to decrease by 13%, from 46.6 million units to 40.4 million units.

THE ARTICLES

In February 2022, hdguru.com said “CTA sees overall 2022 U.S. TV Shipments falling 13% to 40.4M units.”

Where author Greg Tarr has deviously written the headline to obfuscate an actual decrease in 2021:

“Factory shipments of TVs of all types to the U.S. market declined an estimated 5.8% in 2021 to 46.6 million units from 49.4 million in COVID-lockdown accelerated 2020, according to the CTA’s January 2022 Consumer Technology Forecasts.”

Greg wrote the headline that way to avoid plainly stating that, in 2021, Television sales in the U.S. decreased by 5.8%, from 49.4 million units to 46.6 million units.

Hdguru.com’s Greg Tarr attributed it to “COVID lockdown”.

Wait, what? Doesn’t being forcibly locked in hour house due to the barely-covert international release of a Chinese bat virus with four amino acids added for improved transmissibility to humans drive up your desire to order a TV from Amazon and have it delivered to you?

It does. 'COVID lockdown" is a bullshit plausible-deniability excuse, put forward to keep your eyes off the wider trend of collapsing technology consumption that I’m documenting here.

The words “mystery”, “baffled” and “puzzled” are memes, used, among numerous similar variants, whenever anyone in the wholly-controlled-and-coopted Political, Academic, Scientific and Media establishments wants to lie about, well, basically anything. Two of those many variants are the question mark and the word “tricky”.

That’s why an androidauthority.com article from April 2022 says “Smartphone sales drop — but why?”, and then the subhead reads “Sales are down 11% over the quarter and working out the real story is tricky, plus FAA memes, and more***!***”

Where the psychotic exclamation point at the end of the sentence plays like the end is not near for the repugnant, so-called “smart” phone.

Author Tristan Rayner used the only-general “Smartphone sales drop” in the headline because he knows that sixty to seventy percent of readers only read the healdines, and that his hedging generality goes a long way toward “compartmentalizing” awareness of the speed and magnitude of the going-out-of-business decrease in smartphone sales that I’m documenting here.

In journalistic parlance, he “buried” the titanic 11% sales decrease in the subhead.

Can you how, despite the fact that he studies the subject for a living, Tristan is playing like he doesn’t know that smartphone sales have been tanking for, oh, four or five solid years, now?

He’s not an investigative journalist, as he professes, but is rather a front man, a shill.

Shill - noun - an accomplice of a hawker, gambler, or swindler who acts as an enthusiastic customer to entice or encourage others

In the 1st Quarter of 2022, international smartphone sales decreased by 11%, year-over-year.

As a bonus, at the bottom of the column, we learn: “Netflix announced its earnings and it wasn’t great: Its subscriber numbers dropped for the first time in a decade, and the future of Netflix is a) an ad-supported option and b) a big crackdown on password sharing. Netflix said 100 million-plus households use an account they’re not paying for, including 30 million plus in the US and Canada. It also lost 700k subscribers by pulling out of Russia. Its stock price tanked, if you were wondering. (Android Authority).”

I had to look up another article to learn "The numbers are in and they’re not good. Netflix reported it shed 200,000 global subscribers in the first quarter of 2022, marking the first time it lost subscribers in more than 10 years. This is a huge contrast to the 2.5 million subscribers the company was expected to add.

In a shareholder letter, Netflix blamed a number of factors, including inflation, increased account sharing, and growing competition. The company also said the COVID-19 boom of 2020 had “clouded the picture” of its broader growth prospects.

Shares of Netflix were down more than 25% in after-hours trading.

I had to look up yet another article to learn “Netflix closed the year with 221.8 million subscribers”.

Then, I had to do the math to learn that, in the 1st Quarter of 2022, Netflix subscribers decreased by 200,000, or .09%, from 221.8 million to 221.6 million.

In April 2022, strategyanalytics.com said “Fitnessband sales drop 7% in 2022”.

Hilariously, the subhead reads “Global fitnessband sales fell 21% in 2021, and are expected to further dip 7% in 2022.”

In 2021, international smart watch sales decreased by 21%.

In April 2022, insideevs.com said “NIO Electric Car Sales Decreased In April 2022 By 28% YOY”.

Author Mark Kane said “NIO explains that the vehicle production and delivery have been impacted by the supply chain volatilities and other constraints.”

In May 2022, CNN said “Tesla’s China sales dive 98% as lockdowns take a toll”.

Author Laura He said "Hong Kong (CNN Business)Car sales saw a record decline last month in China, the world’s largest automobile market, as strict Covid-19 lockdowns take a severe economic toll. And no auto maker suffered more than Tesla. The EV maker sold 1,512 vehicles in mainland China last month, down 98% from March, according to data from the China Passenger Car Association. Tesla’s production in the country also slid 81% to 10,757 vehicles in April, compared with 55,462 in March.

Tesla didn’t export any Shanghai-made vehicles in April, compared with 60 exported in March."
