From 2021 to 2022, violent crime in North Charleston, Carolina decreased by 12%, year-over-year. Deputy Police Chief Karen Cordray said it was because of “a focus on community policing”.
From January through December 2022, murders in large U.S. cities decreased by 5%. The New York Times’ German Lopez said it was because “The causes of the murder spike have receded”.
From 2022 to 2023, violent crime in Milwaukee, Wisconsin decreased by 7%. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel’s Elliott Hughes asked “Why?”, and said that it “appears to be the reverse of national trends”.
Well, if that’s true, then why does a New York Times article from a month earlier read “Murders in large U.S. cities are down more than 5 percent so far in 2022 compared to the same time last year”?
It’s not true. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinal’s Elliott Hughes is lying bald-facedly. He’s using conscious deception while retaining the firmness of purpose that goes with complete honesty. I have exposed his duplicity by using what was known in the old days as “fact checking”.
In terms of what caused the sudden, gigantic decrease in violent crime in Milwaukee, Elliott said it was because of “infrastructure in place to address gun violence as a public health issue, which is part of the mission of the Office of Violence Prevention”.
