THE DATA

In China, the highest level of wheat flour consumption was associated with a 285% increase, or near-tripling of mortality from vascular diseases.

In a 21-nation study, the highest-quintile consumption of refined grains was accompanied by a 54% increase in overall mortality, compared to the lowest quintile.

From 2000 to 2022, per capita consumption of wheat products in the United States decreased by 13%, from 146.3 pounds to 126.6 pounds.

From 2020/21 to 2021/22, international food consumption of wheat decreased by 78% , from 105.7 million bushels to 23 billion bushels. Farmprogress.org said it was because “high prices are likely going to price out human consumer of food before livestock”.

In 2022, the 78% decrease in international wheat consumption was 12,900% greater than the .6% average annual decrease in per capita consumption of wheat products in the United States from 2000 to 2022.

The positive change is increasing hyper-exponentially, going forward in time.

From 2021/22 to 2022/23, wheat consumption in Ghana is projected to decrease by 3%, from 832,000 metric tons to 812,000 metric tons. The USDA said it was because of the fast-rising global prices of wheat, aggravated by the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict."

The uncredited author from ibisworld.com said it was “a result of an overall trend toward a low carbohydrate and gluten-free diet. Additionally, supply chain disruptions and pressured spending amid the COVID-19 pandemic have placed further downward pressure on consumption in 2020 and 2021.”

“A result of an overall trend toward carbohydrate and gluten-free diet”. Can you see how the author didn’t mention why that trend was taking place?
