On August 8, 2022, Car and Driver said “EV Turning Point May Be Happening; Sales Up 60%”
Nine days later, on August 19, 2022, the State propaganda organ known as “the International Council on Clean Transportation” said “A 2022 update on electric car sales: China taking the lead, the U.S. catching up, and Europe falling behind.”
Where “catching up” is Mil-speak for “rejecting the cruel, stupid boondoggle of electric cars”.
And where “falling behind” is Mil-speak for “even more rapidly rejecting the cruel, stupid boondoggle of electric cars”.
Three months after that, on November 2, 2022, insideevs.com said “XPeng Electric Car Sales Cut In Half In October 2022”. XPeng is a Chinese electric car manufacturer.
As you can see, the State propaganda organs known as “Car and Driver” and “the International Council on Clean Transportation” are not your friends, and are lying to you about basically everything, including the health of the electric car market, notably in China.
The subhead goes on to say “Despite the introduction of the fourth model, the volume decreased by 50% year-over-year.”

Author Fred Lambert goes on to say “The average electric car price in the United States hit $66,000 last month – a more than 13% increase year over year. That’s a bit disappointing since the promise has been that EV prices would come down, but this price increase isn’t the whole story.”
In June 2022, the average electric car price increased by 13%, year-over-year, to $66,000.
The article goes on to say “The average price paid for a new electric vehicle (EV) increased in June by 3.8% compared to May and 13.7% versus a year ago.”
From May to June 2022, the average price for a new electric car in the United States increased by 3.8%, to $66,000.
On August 4, 2022, theverge.com said “EV prices are going in the wrong direction”.

On May 26, 2022, Newsweek said “Most Americans Won’t Consider Buying an Electric Car, JD Power Study Finds”.
Author Eileen Falkenberg-Hull goes on to say “A new study by J.D. Power reveals that more Americans are willing to consider an electric vehicle (EV) for their next new car purchase than ever before. However, the 2022 U.S. Electric Vehicle Consideration Study also showed that the vast majority of shoppers still won’t give them serious consideration.”
The majesty of it is that, in the entire article, the statistic is never mentioned, beyond “vast majority”.
Thanks to the international News Blackout that is in place on the subject, the closest we can get is “The percentage of shoppers that said they are “very likely” to consider an EV for their next vehicle purchase has climbed four percentage points year-over-year to 24 percent.”
Which leads me to guess that 76% of the public will not consider buying an electric car.
So I’ll have to research another article.
