The statement “it’s cold right now” is a variant on the bitter “yeah, but that’s there” defense.

Jeff Sessions is claiming his own actions are going to drive down crime in the United States which has already decreased exponentially.

They said “spotted in British waters” to imply that the bluefin tuna had been there, all along, only nobody had looked for it with the proper skill or assiduousness, previously.
The U.K.’s Independent is using conscious deception while retaining the firmness of purpose that goes with complete honesty.

In November 2017, snow coverage in the lower 48 states was the highest in history, 19% higher than the previous record, set in 2011.
In December 2017, the Boston Globe said “Mt. Washington summit breaks daily record low temperature, wind chill”.
