Deborah and Mark Kuhn were assaulted and falsely arrested last week by Deputy Brian Scarborough of the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Department.

Alex Jones on today’s radio show interviewed Debbie Kuhn where she detailed the events surrounding her assault and arrest for hanging a flag upside down .

She also had a Ron Paul 2008 yard sign in her yard, but what set the war torn Iraq vet/ deputy off was the upside down flag tacked to her house.

by Deputy Scarborough and voiced my concern that the Sheriff has to fire him and investigate the deputy’s criminal behavior.

by Mike McWilliams Asheville – A couple who said they were protesting the state of the country by flying the U.S. flag upside down with signs pinned to it found themselves in jail following a scuffle with a deputy Wednesday morning.

Mark and Deborah Kuhn were arrested on two counts of assault on a government employee, resisting arrest and a rarely used charge, desecrating an American flag, all misdemeanors. The Kuhns were released from custody Wednesday afternoon.

“This is surreal,” Deborah Kuhn, 52, said moments after her son Mark Stidham paid $1,500 bond to get the couple out of jail.

Arrest reports show Buncombe County Sheriff’s deputy Brian Scarborough went to the Kuhns’ home on 68 Brevard Road about 8:45 a.m. Wednesday to investigate a complaint of an American flag on display after being desecrated.

State law prohibits anyone from knowingly mutilating, defiling, defacing or trampling the U.S. or North Carolina flags. Lt. Randy Sorrells of the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office said the Kuhns desecrated the flag by pinning signs to it, not by flying it upside down.

An upside-down flag typically is flown as a distress signal. The Kuhns said they flew it this way not out of disrespect but to symbolize the state of the country.

Deborah Kuhn said the signs pinned to the flag included an explanation on the meaning of an upside-down flag and asked to “help our country.” One of the signs was a photo of President Bush with “Out Now” written on it, they said.

The couple flew the flag for about a week before Wednesday.

Police visits

Deborah Kuhn said an Asheville police officer stopped by last week to make sure the couple was OK, after recognizing the upside-down flag as a distress signal.

Asheville police calls for service records show an officer did go to the house July 18 after a complaint about the upside-down flag. The officer did not issue a citation or file a report.

A couple of days later, Deborah Kuhn said a man dressed in fatigues came to the door to “harass my husband” about the flag. Someone also took photos of the flag, she said.

Sorrells said a resident approached Scarborough while he was on duty and alerted him to the flag. Sorrells said he did not know where the person approached Scarborough or what the deputy was doing.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, Scarborough went to the Kuhns’ home and gave Mark Kuhn a copy of the flag desecration statute. Scarborough told the Kuhns the flag was being displayed illegally.

Although the Kuhns live within the Asheville city limits, Sorrells said the complaint was made to a deputy.

“We have jurisdiction throughout the whole county of Buncombe,” Sorrells said. “We have a citizen that complains to us about a violation of law, we’re bound by oath to act on it.”

Scarborough told Mark Kuhn he was going to be issued a citation and asked for identification. Kuhn refused, slammed the door on the deputy’s hand, breaking the glass pane out of the door and cutting Scarborough’s hand, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Deborah Kuhn said they removed the flag from their front porch after Scarborough threatened to cite them, but they objected to showing Scarborough their IDs, which he needed to write the tickets. Scarborough then broke into their house and came after them, they said.

“He tried to keep us from closing the door, but we managed to get it closed,” Deborah Kuhn said. “We locked the door and he broke the glass to our front door and proceeded to assault my husband, saying, ‘You’re under arrest.’”

The Sheriff’s Office said a struggle ensued when Scarborough followed Kuhn back into the house. At that time, Deborah Kuhn also struck Scarborough in the face, authorities said in arrest reports.

Scarborough called for backup and five squad cars responded, Sorrells said.

Deborah Kuhn said she called 911 and ran into the street screaming for help.

Mark Kuhn said he did not attack Scarborough.

“He came after me, and I fought him back,” Kuhn, 43, said. “After I got out of his hold, I ran outside.”

Rarely enforced

Sorrells said this is the first time he has seen the flag-desecration law enforced. He said it’s a difficult decision for an officer to weigh a resident’s right to free speech against another’s complaint of a law violation.

“I think the officer did the appropriate thing by stating his intention to simply issue a citation and let it be worked out in court,” Sorrells said. “If Mr. Kuhn had simply complied with that request for identification and accepted the citation, we would have all gone about our way, and it could have been worked out in court. Once he assaulted the officer, it escalated very quickly.”

Sorrells said Scarborough suffered some scrapes and cuts to his hand and returned to duty later Wednesday. A message left for Scarborough at the Sheriff’s Office was not immediately returned.

Mark Kuhn, who said he had flown his flag upside down before without any problems, said he plans to fight the charges. The Kuhns each face a maximum 420 days in jail if convicted on all of the charges.

“We are going to do our best to get a civil liberties lawyer from the ACLU,” Kuhn said.

“We are going to take this big time. Officer Scarborough is not going to get away with this.”

The Kuhns said the Sheriff’s Office kept their flag. Sorrells said he had no record of that.

Any Orgonite gifters in the Asheville area need to gift the Kuhns, the Sheriffs Office and the County Courthouse where the Kuhns face numerous criminal charges.

Please somebody go gift the area . I talked with Debbie Kuhn last week and she is great need of assistance. Her 85 year old mother is now living with her and with a brain tumor which she now has to face surgery with.

I hope that Alex Jones will start using the ‘T’ word (‘treason,’ ‘the republic is threatened’–which is why these folks hung the flag upside down in the first place) when discussing crimes like this one. I also hope that he’ll stop attacking, then cutting off courteous callers to his show when they mention the work we’re all doing.

Solution-based discussions are what count in the long run, after problems and problem-makers have been exposed and identified. It’s the next logical step beyond what Alex Jones is doing, which is to only talk about problems.

Why not drop that second shoe, now? OUt of all the sites on the web that deal with conspiracy information there are precious few, including EW, that will go beyond merely discussing problems and will get to work fixing them.

When orgonite and spontaneous predator-blasting is finally discussed as openly and publicly as the isolated problems are, I think the end of the world odor will be clearly in sight and we can start living in a more peaceful, harmonious and prosperous world.

By the way, the federal government blew up the World Trade Center, so why spend so much time talking about planes and alleged planes? Isn’t that just a distraction in the face of the larger challenge, which is the manifest, thorough treason exemplified by this unlawful federal government? This unlawful body has to be discarded or relegated to rule only the District of Columbia, the US Virgin Islands and Guam, not ‘fixed’ or 'reformed?

Avoiding discussions of viable, demonstrated solutions kind of reminds me of Rush Limbaugh (devoted fascist). Rush L has the same stated goals as his socialist ‘opponents:’ consolidation of all political power in corporate Washington, DC, at the expense of the states and communities, where real Constitutional and economic power belongs.

I’m not saying Jones is two-faced, of course, and a lot of the juicy federal targets we go after are found after Jones publicises specific federal atrocities. I hope he keeps doing that! So what if he doesn’t like what we’re doing?

There is a solution aspect to what happens after JOnes and others publicise federal crimes against the populace: grassroot support for the victims is growing at an accelerating rate.

I remember when conspiracy disinformants (most of the impassioned speakers at public meetings were CIA assets) used this technique to get all the activists to assemble in one place so the feds, some posing as activists, could count heads and photograph license plates in the parking lot. Other feds infiltrated the smaller groups and tried their best to incite violence against the government so that activists, in general, would be seen by the Pajama People as threats to the status quo. It all backfired on the CIA shortly after the feds blew up the Murrah Federal Building, of course, and the What To Think Network, overconfident in the stupidity of the Pajama People, documented the then-new concentration camps and mass execution facilities, naming the new patriots as threats to stability after Russia lost communism. REmember how fast the CIA switched to calling Muslims the new threat after the Pajama People didn’t swallow the ‘militia threat’ bait?

See how the What To Think Network is retreating from the ‘Muslim Threat’ facade, now? The world odor, hence the CIA (the world odor’s main disinformation organ) are in dissaray, which is a wonderful sign of progress. Maybe they’ll start naming each other on the What To Think Network as The Enemy pretty soon Wink

The other day, when gunfire was heard in the woods around the Browns’ home in New Hampshire, Carol and I got a big kick out of the apparent fact that the feds, who won’t even show their faces or black helicopters, much, around Plainfield, New Hampshire, have sunk to that level: infantile, anonymous, strident intimidation from behind trees Cool. I hope you can appreciate that this is a huge improvement over a similar episode in the 1990s, very close to where we now live, when an army of uniformed federal storm troopers intimidated the populace in an entire county and even disarmed the National Guard in Northern Idaho while they were setting up to slaughter Randy Weaver and his wife and kids.

Not only did they fail, that time, but they had to pay Randy Weaver five million bucks because Lon Horiuchi, an FBI sniper, got trigger happy and murdered Mrs Weaver. When was the last time the federal Gestapo was able to pull off a family massacre? It’s been a loooong time, please note.

Not even the eternally complacent Pajama People feel much affection or terror toward this treasonous regime, any more, so the Bush crime syndicate (the current regime, until they put their subcontractors, the Clinton crime syndicate, back in the oval office again) has to hire bigotted, big-bellied drunk rednecks and flag-waving Alzheimer sufferers to show up as supporters for their photo ops.

How pitiful, but funny, is that?

Sherriff Van posed in front of an American flag, which was folded in a clever way so that the gold braid around the edge isn’t seen. This is also being done in all the recent movies in which government/corporate institutions’ indoor American flags are shown, as you see in courthouses, Elk’s Lodges, elementary schools, etc.

The gold braid, as more and more people apparently realize, indicates that the flag doesn’t represent the republic; it’s an admiralty flag, representing the City of London’s satrapie: the (federal reserve) corporate United States of America. A genuine American flag, sans braid, in a courtroom might have the same vital but subtle psychological effect on Pajama People as the sight of newly-blue, cloud-dotted skies after you’ve disabled all the death towers and HAARP arrays in your own county.

So, the What To Think Network has to hide that gold braid like one would hide skidmarked underwear.

Maybe it’ just a COINCIDENCE that Sheriff Duncan dropped the BOGUS charges after his office got 1000’s of phone calls from Kuhn’s supporters from around the world over the last 2 day’s ?

I was the first call into the Sheriff’s office bty, minutes before Alex Jones broadcast the Sheriff’s telephone number on his daily radio show at infowars.com , which then started an avalanche of calls to protest the arrest and to demand the firing of Deputy Borg Scarborough.
