“I am not the law, but I represent justice so far as my feeble powers go.”
― Sherlock Holmes, from “The Casebook of Sherlock Holmes - The House of Stratus”, by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, 1927
“There’s this guy. He’s a kind of cop. At least he used to be. He doesn’t care about the law. He doesn’t care about proof. He only cares about what’s right. He knows what I did. You can’t protect me. No one can.”
From “Jack Reacher”, sceenplay by Christopher McQuarrie, 2012
From 2013 to 2019, the number of opioid prescriptions in the U.S. decreased by 37.3%.

From 2018 to 2019, drug overdose deaths in the U.S. decreased by 4.2%.
The 4.2% decrease in overdose deaths in the U.S. in 2018 was 460% greater than the .75% average annual decrease in opioid deaths there from 2015 to 2019.

“Even in best-case scenario, opioid overdose deaths will keep rising until 2022”
Melissa Healy, Los Angeles Times, February 10, 2019
From 2020 to 2021, opiate overdoses among whites in Philadelphia decreased by 31%. Penn Medicine News described it as “sizable”.
From 2020 to 2021, overdose deaths in San Francisco, California decreased by 7%, from 700 to 650.
As you can see, the folks in charge are not your friends, and are lying to you about basically everything, including opioid overdose deaths.
The Los Angeles Times’ Melissa Healy is using conscious deception while retaining the firmness of purpose that goes with complete honesty. I have exposed her duplicity by using what was known in the od days as “fact checking”.

THE ARTICLES
In April 2022, extension.psu.edu said “In 2021, Gallup, Inc. reported that 60% of U.S. adults drank alcoholic beverages, which decreased from 65% as reported in 2019. The average number of drinks consumed in the previous seven days also decreased. In May 2022, morningconsult.com said “Alcohol Drinking Declines and Sobriety Spreads as Consumers Slash Discretionary Spending”.
Where “drinking declines” and “sobriety spreads” are general. As a propagandist, author Emily Moquin knows that, since sixty to seventy percent of readers only read the headlines, her hedging generality goes a long way toward “compartmentalizing” awareness of the scope and speed of the exponential decrease in alcohol consumption I’m documenting here.
The article goes on to say “Overall, consumers’ reported spending on alcohol was down 15% month over month in March as elevated expenses for necessities like groceries and gas precipitated declines in nonessential purchases.”

As a bonus, “plummets” is also a thinly-veiled reference to the fallen Lord Lucifer.

The article goes on to say “Alcohol consumption has dropped by 32% since 2001, including a drop of 4.7% between 2020 and 2021, according to recent data. The shift, which is owed largely to government initiatives being introduced, alongside adapted priorities among young people, sees a huge step change in Irish drinking culture”.
