The cript of the Beata Vergine Annunciata allegedely contains underneath the remains of 500000 people died in the hospital next door, plague victims or poor that where in the hospital to be cured of as in hospice, the burials where stopped by law in the 17th century that barred burials within the Milan’s perimeter walls.
The area is 5 mins walking from the center, the main square Duomo, tonight also this bit of road was gifted, finally!

Sometimes ago I put an EP in a sign post near a really old church behind this compound of hospital and university, here I used the holes on the side of the pedestrian by the side of the road, they normally coincide with a manhole but when they are not blocked by dirt and leaves allow for a full size tb to pass, it is also possible to go visit the cript is open to the public. I suppose the place must have deeply buried remains, I think they must have dig the ground quite a bit to stuff so many shoe-boxes.
The picture below shows a couple of interesting clues, the brick wall with the gate which is separated from the church must have been something else older than the church, both the gate and the church look important in the compound, which is the old hospital and university, opposite there is the actual hospital these days, a small park (la Guastalla) with a small pond that side of the road is actually lower in level. The mouse pointer on the right shows the door to the cript. Maybe they started out with a graveyard and then built on it.
I found interesting there is the fountain.
