Where, under the false guise of familiarity, author Tia McKenzie omitted the word “Mississippi”, to make the subject far less searchable, and said “sees decrease in crime” to walk it back a step from Hattiesburg, Mississippi actually experiencing it.
Did you notice that “decrease in crime” is general? As a propagandist, Tia McKenzie knows that sixty to seventy percent of readers only read the headlines, and that her hedging generality goes a long way toward “compartmentalizing” awareness of the speed and scope of the exponential decrease in crime I’m documenting here.
You have to read the article to learn “HPD saw a nearly 85% decrease in homicides and nearly a 40% decrease in aggravated assaults compared to this same time last year. Overall, HPD has seen a 41 percent drop in violent crime.”
Where “saw” and “seen” walk it back a step from Hattiesburg actually experiencing it.
The article goes on to say “Policing isn’t just a buzzword,” said Chief Peggy Sealy. “These numbers show that it works and that our officers working with the community truly does make the Hub City safer.”
