The first morning we saw the dolphins, but by the time we got out, they we headed out to sea, so i left some gifts and headed back in. We went out into the valley in Waianae to check out a farm, and there was a huge military field with all sorts of antennae in it across from the farm. I gifted along part of the fence, but it was not the focus of the day so there is more to do there. It was difficult to photograph.

The next morning the dolphins were way too far out to swim to at first so we hiked a bit for better access, but then we saw that they were back near the beach that we normally swim out from. We eventually got out in the water and the Nai‘a swam right over by the jetty where the wind was calm, the water was more clear, and the light was good. They are a super happy group and chatter more than any other place we go. Maybe because of the lower visibility. Some of them were happy to be on video, and i got 2.5 minutes worth. At the beginning there is a cloud that looks a lot like a dolphin with a curved back so i put that in.
Am thankful that after many dry runs and quite a few domestic projects i finally got a chance to swim with a playful pod of Nai‘a again. The experience stays with you for a while.

Also there are lots of companies that will take you out to the dolphins on W. Oahu, and it’s year round, for those that want a pretty sure thing. Dolphin experience wise that is…
