Don,
We didn’t really know what we were doing when we were involved in the church, kind of like on zombie/don’t-want-to- make-god-mad mode, if you know what I mean. What a story that was!
It kind of turned around for us when we visited Kenya on a missionary trip, as we considered moving there as missionaries. Everything felt so wrong, the way religion was pushed on the people and we saw the methods used: guilt and fear! We felt so uncomfortable being involved, like our hearts were racing and we were sweating and just felt like crap during the soul winning crusades, but we were told not to worry because that was just the “power of the holy spirit”.
Well we realized it was just our bodies and minds telling us to get the heck out of there, so that’s what we did. Also the missionaries we were supposed to work with down there antagonized us because of our use of herbal medicine and such….said that we were going to get covered in gasoline and burned by the locals for being witches.
Thank you!
