When Carol and I returned from a recent trip to Canada we dreaded the American border crossing because these thugs have been molesting justy about everyone in recent years. Going thru that gauntlet has come to feel sort of like rape, in fact. I’m not kidding. Even wealthy, white Depression Babies are treated like criminals at the border. Carol has the impression that this is just one of the little ways that the feds are using to discourage people from traveling outside the US, which is obviously a police state by now.
So we were not prepared for what happened.
Carol handed the border guard her passport, along with my State ID (national ID card) and birth certificate. The previous time we came back to the US the guard tried to give me the impression that I might not be allowed back into the country because I didn’t sport one of the new national ID cards. I just kept my mouth shut through all that abuse and then she acted like she was doing me a favor letting me pass.
This time, the guard asked me, after looking at my ID, ‘Have you gotten the lecture?’ I nodded, then the guard said, ‘I’m required to tell you that you’re not allowed back into the US without one of the new ID cards or a passport but if I prevented you from entering the US, I’d be committing a felony and you could have me arrested.’
Knowledge is power
The airport Gestapo got ‘nicer’ in the past couple of years, which we presume is this unlawful regime’s attempt at putting a velvet glove on the iron fist but this border guard actually seemed to be exercising a conscience and we saw it as a hopeful sign.
