This is for North Dakota but since their winters are generally more harsh than anywhere else in the US it might relate to your area, too, if you’re in this country:
The corn leaves here say we’re going to have an open, mild winter until the end of December, then January & February will be stinky, but then it will get tolerable again. The wasps have been building their winter nests at the very bottom of the clapboards on my place. This also says “no snow/cold in any great degree”… when it’s going to be a miserable winter, they build up in the soffits & if they can they get into the high rafters. Chakli’s [big dog] hair is getting a bit longer, but no thicker… Local cats that go out a lot don’t have a ton of underfur…
