I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but several of us Americans on EW are putting flags of other countries by our user ID–is the flag an avatar in this case?
I’ve got Uganda’s flag–It’s got a kudu on it and that’s the most magnificent creature I’ve ever seen–nice reminder of Africa for me.
I can’t speak for the others but everyt time I see an American flag, these days, it feels like I’ve been slapped in the face. I’m deeply ashamed of this government and the people in America, UK and Israel who support this corporate/military terrorism around the world. Maybe someday the American flag won’t be synonymous with tyranny, any more but I’ll feel lucky if I never have to look at the damn thing again.
Excessive nationalism is pure poison. I’m happy to be an American, especially since I’ve got no choice, but this gov’t and the drunken PJ folks’ goose stepping really has to go away.
